iPhone 14 vs 13: Our Take
POSTED:If you are an iPhone enthusiast, you know you do not have to rush out and buy the latest model if the new features are not convincing enough. Right? To help you make an informed decision, this article is going to take you on a tour of the specs of the iPhone 13 and the upcoming iPhone 14.
iPhone 13: Release date, Specs, and Pricing
It is easy to identify the iPhone model by simply inspecting the camera. When the iPhone 13 was out, it was the third iPhone to have a triple-lens camera. Previous models were the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. It was only available on the Pro and Pro Max versions. In 2013, Apple released four models of the iPhone 13:
Every iPhone 13 model runs on the same iOS – i.e., iOS 15.5. Most users were taken aback when Apple announced that they had eliminated the 64GB storage option from the iPhone 13 model.
While the iPhone 13 and 13 mini share many of the same specs, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are exceptional. The most expensive iPhone 13 model is the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB since, as is customary with iPhones, you pay extra for bigger storage.
Rewind. Are you sure we said 1 TB? It was not until the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max that Apple introduced such a massive capacity for user data storage. We can guarantee that for some clients, this was the deciding factor in purchasing an iPhone 13.
Have you heard? The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are no longer sold on Apple's official website – All the more reason you should get it right here at Loop Mobile.
iPhone 14: What is new?
When Apple unveiled the new iPhone 14 series at their most recent Apple Event, the dynamic island was the first thing everyone noticed. This is a first for Apple's iPhone. Apple had 5 years to experiment with the display notch, and despite harsh criticism, the dynamic island on the iPhone 14 seems to have allayed these fears.
A new pill-shaped component has been added to the top center of the screen, and it has been named: The “Dynamic Island.” It is hard to overstate how much of an impact it has had on us. While connected to your AirPods, you can check on and manage all open applications and alerts.
You do realize that will not justify the cost of a brand-new iPhone 14, right? Well, that remains a decision you have to make on your own. Also, that pill has a camera sensor tucked somewhere within it.
To save you our many island puns, we will refrain from making any. Even while the aesthetics of the dynamic island have been criticized, it has become arguably the most noticeable part of the iPhone 14. This function is only available on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
The new Always-on display of the iPhone 14 is another standout feature since it allows you to receive alerts without waking up your screen. Apple designed it so that it does not drain battery life and may even extend its longevity.
Improved CPU
While the A15 Bionic CPU powers the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 has the brand-new A16 Bionic processor. This latter is constructed using a 4-nanometer technology and has about 16 billion transistors. Unquestionably, its speeds outperform the A15. Plus, their power consumption is reduced by around 20%.
The A15 Bionic chip seen in the iPhone 13 will continue to power the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, while the A16 Bionic will be reserved for the Pro and Pro Max. Between the A15 and A16, there is a difference of 1 billion transistors.
Apple said in its keynote address that the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are 18% quicker than the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max while using the same A15 Bionic chipset.
New Design
All of the iPhone 14 models come in a variety of attractive colors, including blue, purple, midnight, starlight, and (Product)Red. The blue is closer to the sierra blue of the iPhone 13 Pro but paler than the deep blue of the iPhone 13. The new light purple color option for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is distinct from the darker purple option for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 did not come in purple.
The classics are still available: black (in both midnight and space black for the budget models) and off-white (for the premium models) (call it starlight to appear more sophisticated). Of course, the (Product)Red iPhone 13 was also available. It is possible to get the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in gold or silver.
The new, more reasonably priced iPhone 14 Plus includes many of the same great features as previous iPhone models. It has a larger screen than the iPhone 14, at 6.7 inches. The iPhone 13 Pro Max had the biggest display, whereas the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max both had displays of 6.7 inches. The display size of both the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 is 6.1 inches, the same as that of the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro. The screen size of the iPhone 13 mini is 5.4 inches.
Enhanced cameras
The iPhone 13 and 14 both have similar cameras in terms of their hardware. All three sizes of the iPhone 13 and 14 include a dual-lens camera on the back. The iPhone 13, 14, and Pro Max all have triple-lens primary cameras.
The enhanced (2.5x) low-light performance of the iPhone 14 camera is a major selling point. Photos taken with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which use Apple's new Photonic Engine, have improved texture and color accuracy.
Additionally, the 48MP primary camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max includes a new Telephoto option. The camera's quad-pixel sensor automatically adjusts to catch the finest details in every shot. A new TrueDepth camera has been added to the front-facing camera, which greatly improves its low-light performance.
As far as software is concerned, the iPhone 14 is more capable than the iPhone 13 – especially when it comes to taking photos.
Bigger storage
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max were the first Apple products to offer a 1TB storage option. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max continue with the same design. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a fantastic device, but its storage options are disappointing. The most expensive iPhone currently available should not begin at the lowest storage option (128GB).
All of the 13 and 14-inch iPhones, from the base model up to the top-end Pro Max, have similar minimum storage capacity.
Price difference
The 128GB iPhone 13 started at £749. The 13th-generation Pro Max was the most expensive iPhone, with the 1TB model retailing for £1,549. Beginning at £849, the new iPhone 14 is not cheap (UK).
In the US, however, Apple has maintained the same pricing for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13. The initial retail pricing of the iPhone 14 was somewhat more than that of the iPhone 13 in the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and Japan.
Fun fact: The refurbished iPhones we sell here at Loop Mobile are either brand new or have little worn. So, not only do you receive an iPhone at a discount, but it is also one that has been tried and true by many others.
Final Thoughts
The question that matters most now is whether you should buy the iPhone 13 or wait for the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 is considered one of the most difficult iPhones to sell in the recent past. While its unique selling points may be impressive, they are not necessarily compelling enough to warrant a purchase when compared to the product's forerunners.
Check out our iPhone 13 pricing if you are considering an upgrade from a previous model. We have a 30-day return policy in addition to our 1-year warranty. If you are dead set on getting an iPhone 14, we suggest you wait around two months so you can take advantage of the steep discounts we will be offering on our website.
